Mersing Jetty is the gateway to the beautiful Tioman Island. There are only three ferry services per day by the Blue Water Ferry. Ferries are the only way to reach this remote island with several drop-off points. You may choose the appropriate one as per your hotel or resort booking. The ferry ride will be in economy class. It is a shorter ride from Mersing Jetty to Tioman Island.
Mersing Jetty is located in the Johor state of Malaysia. It is better known as the gateway to Tioman Island as the ferry to the island is operational only from this terminal. Mersing Jetty is situated in the Mersing Harbour Centre. The harbour working hours start at 8 am but the ticket counter for the ferry will be opened one hour before the departure time. Mersing generally has a hot, humid, and cloudy climate. November-December gets the maximum rain; January is the coldest month when the daytime temperature is 31 degrees. February gets the least amount of rain. The harbor is close to the Mersing bus station. You may arrive at the bus station from other parts of the country and need to walk the remaining distance to the terminal.
Tioman island is locally called Pulau Tioman. It is an ecological wonder in Southeast Asia, located off Pahang. It is a small island with plenty of warm beaches inviting the visitors to enjoy the day out. The coral reefs and general marine life calls for adventurous activities. The wildlife on the island forms a perfect layout for nature explorations as well. There are two ways of reaching here- one from the Mersing jetty, the primary gateway, and the Tanjung Gemok ferry. June to August is the best season to visit Tioman Island. Since the island has a tropical rainforest climate, it often gets rainfall, and the temperature does not deviate much from 30-32 degrees Celsius.
There are usually three ferries from Mersing Jetty to Pulau Tioman. The timings are 6.30 am, 12.30 pm, and 2 pm onwards, and the return services are available at 7 am. The travel duration on the ferry is 39 minutes on each side. The ferry offers economy seats for all. Seats are available at affordable rates. You must choose a return ticket while booking, which will be available at cheaper rates. The ticket rate for one adult is MYR 120 for both tickets. The onward boarding is from Mersing Jetty.
